With an aaverage temperature of 74 degrees, light winds, the fishing conditions couldn’t be better. With the unusually mild temperature for this time of year we have been able to productively catch Tarpon. That’s right Tarpon are here in February. Capt Cory Shepherdson on the Coolwater who is known as one of the best Tarpon captains in Key West has been taking advantage of there early arrival. Captain Cory went 3 for 6 on a 1/2 day yesterday with each of the three fish he landed weighing over 100 lbs. Tarpon will be here for the next 6 months so get down here and battle the silver king.

2011 is coming to an end, and what a great year its been for Fish key West Florida. We have increased our business every year since 2000. We have recently added a 4th boat to our awesome fleet. We purchased another 2010 33′ SeaVee. This boat is fully loaded with every option possible. The name of our new vessel is Coolwater II. The Coolwater II will be docked behind the beautiful Hyatt Resort located in downtown Key West. Come down and check it out, you will be impressed.

The fishing and weather lately have been outstanding. Here we are 12/31/11 and for the past week its been blowing 5 to 10 knots with an average temp of 73. Recently offshore we have caught countless Blackfin Tuna, a number of Wahoo, and a few Sailfish mixed in. We have been pounding the Black Grouper up to 36 lbs, as well as Mutton Snapper. Capt Nick Diorio on the Coolwater II recently had a very nice family from Canada who really wanted a big shark and they caught the rare Tiger Shark. It was a very nice size fish and decide to have a replica mount done. Capt. Kevin on the Outcast was fighting 1 of 12 Bonita’s hooked that day when all of a sudden a 500 lb Blue Marlin came up and ate one of them. His tackle was under matched for the marlin and quickly lost him. We are looking forward to and even better 2012. Come down to the southernmost point and let’s go fishing!

The blackfin tuna have arrived as well as some great sailfishing with the east/northeast breezes. The reef fishing has been excellent, with the water cooling down we have had plenty of black grouper catches the past 2 weeks. Plenty of live bait around so please come join us for some senstional offshore fishing this December.

With a late season tropical storm here in key west the fish are ready to eat. All of our boats went out the day after the storm passed and had an incredible day of fishing with the Ericsson Corp.. The coolcast came in with 15 mutton snapper, 3 grouper and a mix of lane, yellowtail and mangrove snapper. The coolwater gave a shot offshore first thing that morning but only had 1 teenage sized dolphin and came into the sambo reef and finished his day with a great mix of snapper and grouper. The Outcast would not be out shined with a great catch limiting out in yellowtail snapper, 6 muttons and 15lb black grouper. The eastbound current of the gulfstream is moving in closely to the reef which should bring the Tuna, Wahoo and sailfish in any day. November and December are two of our best months offshore for pelagic fishing. Please come join Team Fishkeywestflorida on your next fishing adventure.

The September Dolphin fishing has been incredible this year. Capt. Kevin Coyle of the Outcast, Capt. Mike LeDrew of the Coolcast and Capt nick Diorio of the Coolwater have all had incredible trips offshore the past week. With any type of debris found offshore it has been loaded with fish ranging from 7lbs up to a 38lb bull dolphin caught by Capt. Mike Ledrew with his charter from Ohio. With the westbound current on the reef the Yellowtail snapper fishing has been a for sure thing. Making excellent table fare the snapper have been biting good with all of our boats catching there 10 per person limit almost every charter. Capt. Nick Diorio on the Coolwater dropped a live Pinfish to the bottom yesterday and caught a 26lb black grouper with the Dickson Family. Come join us for some red hot action as the fishing only gets better in November with the Pelagic fishing about to go off. Thank You

Our offshore fishing in September can be excellent in Key West. Our Capt. Kevin Coyle on the Outcast was offshore last week and went 2 for 3 on big Wahoo while trolling a weed line in 280 feet of water. The biggest Wahoo being 39 pounds. He proceeded down the weed line and put 7 teenage sized dolphin in the boat to add to his excellent catch. Capt. Mike Ledrew of the Charter boat Coolcast has been coming back with many excellent catches from the reef and wrecks. With the Yellowtail Snapper coming off the spawn they are very hungry and Capt. Mike has caught his 10 per person limit the last 4 charters. Several grouper have been caught on the Coolwater and Coolcast with the largest fish at 33lbs caught on the Air Plane Wreck in 195 feet of water on a live pin fish. With calm winds this month we expect the great fishing to continue. Come join us soon and don’t forget our September Special of fishing for two days at regular price and getting the third day free. Thank you

End of August start of September has been great fishing. This week our boats have done a variety of fishing. Offshore, reef, wreck, and even a Dry Tortugas trip.

Capt Kevin Coyle on the Outcast has been crushing the Mahi Mahi. He has been producing lots of gaffer size fish on every offshore trip he has had this week.

Capt Mike LeDrew on the Coolcast is back to work after his annual August vacation. He has been catching his limit or close to it of Yellowtail Snapper the past few days.

Capt Nick Diorio who is our full time fill in guide is on the Coolwater exclusively this month because Capt. Bill Wallace is on vacation the month of September. Capt. Nick made the 2 hour run and fished the Dry Tortugas Friday. He knows this area like the back of his hand. He has spend many days and nights fishing charters down there. His customer Paul Zarcadoolas and party had a banner day. They caught 14 big Mutton Snapper up to 23 lbs, a 40 & 20 lbs Black Grouper, and a mixed bag of other bottom fish. Great Job Guys!

Captain Bill Wallace on the Coolwater did a long range Gulf Of Mexico trip to visit some of the wreck 40 to 50 miles out. His customers were in the military, in great shape and wanted to battle some big Goliath Grouper. 8 Goliaths and sore muscles later with fish up to 350 lbs these guys got all they asked for. Along with the Grouper they caught a mixed bag of Snapper, Cobia, Jacks, Shark, & Barracuda.
